The Rock man has been in business since 2000. It is owned and operated by Siosiua (Josh) Kava. Josh has been in the construction industry for 40+ years. He started as a laborer in the union and worked his way up.
Over the years Josh has worked for the largest construction company in Hawaii as a superintendent and also helped to build another local construction company from the ground up before deciding to go into business for himself.
He enjoys working closely with his clients to help see their dreams for their homes come to fruition. The goal of Josh, and everyone at The Rock Man LLC, is to provide top quality workmanship, effective collaboration and personal customer service.

Josh (The Rockman) recently completed a massive 8'x40' rock wall for me, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. This was a complex project; we live on a narrow dead-end road, making truck and dumpster access a nightmare, but Josh managed the logistics seamlessly while keeping our neighbors happy. He showed incredible flexibility, working around some county road construction delays that popped up in the middle of the project. Josh and his crew are the rare combination of high-quality craftsmanship and genuine integrity. They always showed up with a smile and a spirit of aloha. One of my neighbors was so impressed she hired him on the spot for her own project! If you want a wall built by someone honest, patient, and easygoing, Josh is your guy.
Josh and his crew do amazing work. They really care about the quality of their work and making sure the final product meets or exceeds your expectations. With over 25 years of masonry experience across Oahu, we’ve tackled everything from simple fence walls to complex retaining walls, to concrete foundations and artificial stone works. We will visit your property, assess the unique conditions (soil type, drainage, access), and provide an honest evaluation of what’s possible. If it’s outside our expertise, we’ll tell you upfront—but that rarely happens.
How do you ensure quality and longevity?
Three ways: (1) We use only premium materials suited to Hawaii’s climate—no shortcuts. (2) Every project includes proper foundation work and drainage solutions, even if you can’t see them. (3) Our crew has over 100 years of experienced combined.. We don’t hire day laborers. Quality is in the DNA.
Are you licensed and insured?
We are a fully licensed masonry contractor in Hawaii, with comprehensive liability insurance, and workers’ compensation for all crew members. We can provide proof of insurance before starting any project. Your property and peace of mind are protected.
